A truck outside Oswald's mansion.

Trucks are vehicles encountered throughout the street sections of the game. They serve little purpose but to occasionally block Oswald's path, as seen in the Alley level.

Information

Historically, the first trucks were invented and produced by Gottlieb Daimler in 1896. These had four horsepower engine and a belt drive with two forward speeds and one in reverse.

The ones in Amnesia seem to be somewhat advanced, utilising hand cranks to start them and also looking more modern.

They are primarily used to transport goods to Oswald's factories.

They can be re-fuelled at pump stations.

Trivia

  • In one note a worker complains how trucks waste considerable amounts of fuel, going only a fraction of a distance a towing horse could before needing to be refilled.
  • An Engineer can be seen driving a Truck past the building when looking outside the window of the Works Manager room in the Factory.
  • Inside the driver's cabin, an inscription reading: Stadtwerke Frankfurt am Mein - Kraftwerk - Umspannwerk Osthafenplatz can be made out. It roughly translates to: Stadtwerke (company) of Frankfurt am Mein - Power station - Substation Osthafenplatz (east harbour place/square). This could mean that the trucks were imported from Germany, rather than being made in England.
