Yeah, I'm not on so often. I like other games as well, such as Nintendo games (Super Mario games, Mega Man, Legend of Zelda games, Donkey Kong, etc.). But recently I've played Amnesia: The Dark Descent, and Amnesia: Justine (though Malo still scares the crap out of me). Does Malo scare you alot too? How did you feel the first time you played the game, and when you met Malo? Do you have a favorite Suitor, or someone you hate more? Though all of the three Suitors look the same, I still think Malo is the scariest of them. (O_O)
I love Amnesia the most of all Wikis out there. ;o3 I'll be your buddy if you want. You're a nice person. I don't know you in real life, but you have been very nice, and have amazing videos, you do. :oD I'll try to be online a little more often. The reason why we're on at different times, may be because of time zones, depends on where you are. I'm in Scandinavia. Right now, the clock is 23:25 at night. I'll be on for a little while, since there's no work tomorrow. And if I don't see you while I'm still awake, I'll see you tomorrow, if you want. ;o)
Anyway. Suitors don't scare me that much, though I do hate Malo o-o he always manages to somehow be right behind me before I enter the crypt. Probably cause I hate hearing Marot die. Poor guy D:
And no nothing really scares me. The first time I played the game I remember I was angry with myself cause I watched all the walkthroughs by yamimash before I could buy the game ._.
The very first time when I got the demo though, I often liked to speed past the Rainy Hall and get to the Refinery. The Grunt is just a hallucination in the demo so I couldn't troll it :(
But I often just glitched chairs and barrels out of the map in the Refinery. I often hacked the game and gave myself 1,000,000 tinderboxes and lit up the entire area lol.
I do have some other favorite games like minecraft and (sometimes) clash of clans, but really I spend most of my time on both Amnesia games. I don't play Justine that much though. It's not as fun to troll the suitors compared to the grunts xD
I live in America, so the clock right now is 3:34 PM in the afternoon.
Yup, the time zones are quite different in out countries, lol. :o)
I hope it's OK that I'm an adult (I'm a young adult). I do love games, though.
I actually never managed to save Marot. I'm always too afraid to fail. But one day, I might be able to save him, if my fear of Malo gets lost for a while. But even if you do save all three prisoners, they can't get out because of the locked door. Will they die anyway, regardless if they were saved or not? Marot is the only prisoner I have never been able to save (probably because there's no danger where the other two are). Have you ever been able to save Marot? You already rule in Amnesia, so I wouldn't be surprised if you managed to save him. :o)
I prefer to troll the Grunts too. XoD It's so funny to confuse them, they're so stupid.
I don't play Justine so much, since it's so scary to me.
I've never tried Minecraft. I have no knowledge of it. But I do know World of Warcraft, which I've tried a little.
Well you're probably twice my age. (I'm 13 btw o-o)
Anyway, it is easy to save Marot. Basically speedrun the level. If you know the entire puzzle with the levers and stuff, speed before Malo can get to you. I just run directly with no hesitation to Marot, close the gate, and then open the gate to the crypt just barely enough so that I can crouch underneath and get by.
And yeah, I'll say again there's something about the grunts. Their head looks so much like a fish that I'd like to meet one in real life one day and smash his head lol.
Heh heh! XoD If I met a Grunt in real life, I'd run like hell. It's nice with scary games. :o)
I'm in my late twenty in age. Yeah, I'm alot older than you are. But I'm not concidered old, though.
I will try to find my guts and save inspector Marot, thank you for your advice. :o) The thing with me, is that whenever the scary music starts when Malo is approaching, my hands starts shaking alot, I'm that afraid, lol. But I do want to save Marot. I'll see if I can the next time I play it. :oD Justine is such a bitch. You're right, at least Daniel and Mandus tried to stop the madness, Justine only did this to see if she had any humanity left (which she didn't, no matter what she does).
Is there really any point to save the prisoners? They're still locked in at the end of the game. Do you know if they'll survive and escape, or if they will die? That still puzzles me. :o/
Well if it's the music that scares you, then you can just turn the volume down lol. Also I don't think Marot really dies lol.
I checked the game's scripting and it only plays the sounds of him screaming when you walk past a certain area. Malo doesn't really even kill him. It's just that there is a 5 second delay until Malo begins chasing you. I haven't been able to see what Marot looks like after Malo supposedly "killed" him, since I can't hack the game like I can with regular Amnesia. To hack, I need a game save to set health to 100,000, and well, Justine doesn't allow saves o-o
And yeah they probably die at the end, since Malo practices cannibalism, and there's always a time in life when a person gets hungry...
Yeah, I don't think Malo is able to eat a fully grown man in 5 seconds (even with that big mouth of his). But that he killed him, that could be possible, as he doesn't come to the locked door if not saved.
Oh lol. This whole time I thought I was talking to a 16 year old guy, well I was wrong. Both ways.
Anyway, are you looking toward SOMA? It looks scary, and it has one of my greatest fears -- electricity. I'll play it but unlike Amnesia, it's going to take me a lot longer than just 1 day to complete it haha. I might end up dying like 10 times before I can finally finish it.
I had big eyes when I saw that poor guy get electrocuted. It might take me a bit longer to finally beat SOMA rather than Amnesia.
Hopefully it's better; Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs was a scary game, but for an Amnesia series? No way. Hopefully SOMA will be more based on the story, and scary events rather than having a puzzle that takes 10 hours to figure out on each level xD
Yeah, hopefully it's scary as heck. :oD Personally, I loved the puzzles in Amnesia, though some of them were very hard to figure out. I actually wish I could delete the memories of Amnesia, only to play it for the first time again. :o)
Funny thing, the trailer gameplay for Amnesia: The Dark Descent scared the crap out of me. The trailer gameplay for SOMA didn't make me feel anything. The gameplay wasn't scary at all in my opinion. But then again, I won't judge the game for a trailer gameplay. That level in the trailer gameplay for Amnesia wasn't in the actual game. Hopefully, SOMA will be way scarier than its trailer. I look forward trying it. Do you know when it will be out? I hope it'll be soon. Very soon indeed. ;o)
I've never tried Penumbra either, but I've heard it's very scary.
Penumbra won't be scary in my opinion, since it's the first series of Frictional Games, but it might be scary. Though I mean Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs had painstaking puzzles. The Dark Descent was fine :)
Though I'm looking at the trailer and I think the disembodied brain was in fact the one that belong to the guy who got electrocuted on that table. Apparently this man thinks it's wise to jam a strange metal device into a dead man's slit forehead.
I'm excited to see SOMA since it's in the future, not the past like Amnesia was (1839, 1858, and 1899), instead it takes place in an underwater station PATHOS 2, but I'm not sure how they got electricity underwater, unless they have underground generators. It would be quite hard to get lines through the water without an insulator.
I like horror from the past more, I think it's more scary. Present time and the future horror doesn't scare me the least. Of course, I have no idea what SOMA will be like, for all I know, it'll be scary.
It will probably come out soon, then. :oD That would be fun.
I just hope Frictional Games doesn't have stupid monsters anymore xD I mean the grunts are fun to troll, but it does take the scary effect away from the game. Here's how a game can scare me:
2. Brutal deaths of others being seen
3. Anything that involves the combination of humans and electricity :D
Other than that, nope :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXzeYn51C5w I made a new video. I've tweaked the Servant Grunt's entity file to have increased physical abilities, which means he runs really really fast and objects go flying. Hope you like it C:
I don't care for cheap jumpscares. I hope they add monsters (perhaps electric monsters?), and that the player is just as helpless as in Amnesia: TDD. That's how I love horror games. But of course, I respect your opinion, though. ;o) You like those scares, I love the ones I mentioned. We can't all like the same.
No lol. I don't mod custom stories, they're really hard xD
I mainly just modify Amnesia's HPL engine, since they actually make sound files easy to locate. (Example Amnesia The Dark Descent > sounds > enemy > grunt > enabled03.
Custom story people name files weird names like "ILIKEPIE23" or "AAAAAAAAAAA", which is hard for me to figure out which sounds play where.
Also here's a quick thing to learn, which is quite easy to remember when changing sound files.
Here's my hater mod. I want to replace the grunt's growling into swearing. So I do that. Always create a backup file so you can switch back to normal.
But here's the problem: I want to replace the sound of the grunt being idle to the 10 lines he says, but there's only 5 sound files. So you don't need to replace sound folders. Just open your .snt files with notepad.
Let's say I wanted to replace a sound file that's for amb_alert (Idle).
Open your amb_alert.snt file with notepad, and there should be lines that say:
But I don't want to edit sounds. What I want, is creating Custom Stories. They're my interest. I need to find someone who can help me create them. I like the scary Custom Stories, and it would be awesome if I learned how to do it. :oD
Well, all you have to do is download the HPL Engine. Search up how to make custom stories, and install them. The possibilities with a custom story are limitless, so I'd recommend watching Mudbill's videos. Mudbill has a tutorial for almost everything -- and he's active. You have a question? Ask him and he'll reply within 24 hours!
I'm thinking of creating a custom story and bringing my idea to life instead of waiting for Frictional Games to make it. I'm thinking of making it take place about 42 years ahead of A Machine for Pigs (World War II) your character is a war veteran in the middle of the bombing at Pearl Harbor when he wakes up in an underground hospital with Amnesia not knowing what happened, and strange malfunctions happen with the machinery, as the medical bots in the facility begin to use their expertise for torture instead of health.
Thanks C: It will take a while though, as I'm really junk with model editing. I'll need to figure out a way to create custom textures. I'll probably wait for SOMA to come out so I can import the props like their high tech machinery compared to Brennenburg's dusty stone and wood work.
I had a similar idea for one of my custom stories I was thinking about making. You play as a lost hiker in the Arctic who takes shelter in an abandoned underground facillity. The facillity is home to a large and complex machine that takes humans and binds them to robotic parts, while also damaging the brain, creating cyborgs who are in constant pain due to the installation of mechanical parts. I got the idea while listening (and playing) a song in band (The Machine Awakes by Stephen Bryant. It included a synthesied part as well as the band portion). It would be set in the 1930's, and the machinery would be steampunk-ish, due to the lack of computers.
I have another idea that I am trying to begin with that is more "Amneisa-like" that I am already planning out. I have made some rough floorplans of the map, and even made some concept art of the antagonist. The story is also much more developed that the previous idea. If that doesn't turn out well, then there is one last idea for a CS that uses vanilla materials and normal Amnesia monsters (Just the entities, not the origin of them).
Spore? No, haven't played it. But I wish I did know how to create Amnesia custom stories, but even though I've seen videos of people explaining, it's not easy to find out what to do. I installed the level editor, but still my PC needed another program, and after I got that, it demanded another one, but I got a warning that the program was a trojan virus or something. 😐
I've actually taken interest in a game called Team Fortress 2. It's not that new, in fact it's a pretty old game but it's really fun. I've also begun highschool so I apologize if I go weeks without logging on. Nice to see you both again!
Man, I haven't played Tf2 in a while, mostly because my interest in it has drained a bit. The most frequently played games by me are Spore, Kerbal Space Program, War Thunder, L4D2, and a few other games. The reason why I asked about Spore was because of it's fiction universe. The SporeWiki has several different galaxies for user-created content, all with wars, empires, and interaction between races. I just though that if either of you enjoy writing and creating things, it would be worth checking out. My own page can be found here.
On another note, SOMA is being released tomorrow. I am excited for Frictional's next game, and I hope it's release may breath new life into the Amnesia wiki.
SOMA is indeed first person. Spore is both third-person and RTS perspective (similar to the Civilizations series from tribal stage onwards.) You can create adventures that remain in a single-character, third person perspective for any creatures/captains you create yourself.
And also, SOMA is amazing. It scarred me for life! :D
