The Cistern is a location in Amnesia: Rebirth, connecting the courtyard of Al-Mamaru Fort and the Oasis. It consisted of a series of underground, well-like structures engineered to contain and store water long-term for human use, as well as sluices and tunnels to connect them. Some of these connections were man-made; some were clearly not.

The Cistern was built by a local warlord, Tarkan Reis, in mid-1600s to supply water to his fort—a vital necessity in the brutally arid Algerian desert.[1] During the events of Amnesia: Rebirth, it was in a state of ruins, and ghouls were present.
After finally assembling the ingredients to create a working shell from various places across the Fort, Tasi Trianon awoke in the Cistern, after having fired the main gun of the derelict tank and causing the faulty ground underneath her to collapse.
In the final section of The Cistern, Tasi got chased by The Shadow and barely escaped to the Oasis.
