Tampter is one of the substances needed in order to create Agrippa's Potion. Being an other-worldly substance, the only source of it on earth is from secretions found in the Kaernk's saliva. To obtain it, Daniel was forced to lure the Kaernk with a leg of fresh meat, then steam the bone to extract the Tampter. Alexander notes its appearance being impossible to describe using English letters (it is, apparently, a green fluid); even writing its name in the Latin alphabet felt wrong to him.
