The Soldier Quarters is a level in Amnesia: The Bunker. It is the westmost location in the bunker, becoming accessible after the deactivation of the emergency lockdown in Central Bunker.

Description[]

The Soldier Quarters are a series of beige corridors with two large Barracks on the middle, serving as the area where the soldiers stationed in the bunker lived. Past these areas are several rooms, including the Mess Hall, Break Room, Security Room, and the Communications Room, the last housing the radio.

The Barracks have sustained far more damage than any other area in this location, having next to no light in the large rooms with the bunk beds. The area is daisy-switched, meaning the electric wires are interconnected in sequence; if one shut off, so are all the others further down the line. There is an abundance of rats in this area, in the Barracks and in the corridors.

The power to the Communication Room's radio must be restore and a key is needed for the door to be opened.

The following section is written from an out-of-universe perspective.

Heading into the first corridor, there is a set of wooden doors that can be broken. Each door gives access to one of the barracks rooms, Barracks A and Barracks B.

At the end of the hall sits the Communications Key. As instructed by the notes, Henri will need to access it, but the door is locked. The key will be on a random bunk bed inside one of the two Barracks, either inside of one of the bunk boxes, under a pillow or a soldier's hat. A photo that shows its location can be found in the Clerk's Office. Upon finding the key, Henri must ensure the power circulates throughout the entire area up to the Communications room in order to power the radio. Because the switches are daisy-chained, every switch in the area must be turned on.

Take a path through Barracks B that will take him to a corridor, at the end of this corridor is a group of rats and a door. Either destroy the door with a weapon or a brick, or through the rats, either carefully or by just running past them. Once past one of these two obstacles Henri will have access to the Mess Hall, Pantry, Kitchen, Break Room and Utility Room. The location of the switches are as follows:

  1. At the entrance to Barracks B.
  2. Down the main corridor, past the first switch.
  3. In Barracks B near the side door.
  4. In the corridor that heads to the Pantry.
  5. Inside the back of the Mass Hall in the corner.
  6. In the Break Room.
  7. In the Utility Room.
  8. Inside the Communications Room in front of the table.

Provided it has been properly powered, Communications can be unlocked and the radio can be turned on. Henri will then note down the code to Arsenal sent to him through the radio.

Trivia[]

  • The Communications Key has set possible spawns. It has three spawns in Barrack A and two in B.
