Mikael Hedberg is a developer at Frictional Games, who works primarily as a writer.[1] He has worked on both the Amnesia series, as well as on the game SOMA.[1]

Mikael Hedberg is a member of the Swedish-based independent games studio, Frictional Games, who first wrote for their horror adventure game Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Hedberg has written on all Amnesia games made by Frictional Games, as well as written for the stand-alone SOMA (a science-fiction existential horror adventure game). He is also the writer of the short story collection Remember.
Work on Amnesia[]
On Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Mikael Hedberg is credited as having worked on the game's "Writing" and "Story," as well as having done work in "Beta Testing."[1] Several developer commentaries from the game give his insight onto aspects of its development as he saw it, mainly on the subjects of writing. On Amnesia: Justine, the expansion/DLC for The Dark Descent, Mikael Hedberg is credited for the same areas as before.[2]
Hedberg is Remember short story collection's sole author. This includes all the various stories contained within it, accompanying the story of The Dark Descent. When it came to Amnesia: Rebirth, Hedberg was credited for "Additional Writing."[3]

Mikael Hedberg has been announced as writing and directing for the upcoming remake of the 1992 survival horror game, Alone in the Dark, in development by Swedish games studio Pieces Interactive, under publisher THQ Nordic.[4] The Alone in the Dark remake has been in development since at least 2019 and is set to release in March 20, 2024.[4]
