I can't seem to find your request on my Skype, if you use Steam you could add me there instead. My username is GabZonY.
As you might have already noticed, I am the owner of this wiki nowadays, as the rest of the admin team left a while back. And since you made some fantastic contributions to this wiki back in the day, I would love to grant you adminship if you want to get back into the swing of things.
Would be great to get ahold of you again. All the best, GabZonY (talk) 22:06, September 16, 2017 (UTC)
Hey man, thanks for improving my post in both choir and prison, you know... I'm brazilian and my english is not that good, also, thanks for explaining me about that stuff about the grunts beeing "summed" and stuff, I'm really grateful for your support.
Most other people only know Amnesia: The Dark Descent from Youtubers and Playthroughs. It's a shame that it almost seems like it has partially died, for it is truly one of the best games of our generation, and probably all time.
Well, that I know of. I haven't met anyone else that is of American nationality that plays Amnesia. And the reason why Amnesia has lost so much popularity is that it's not an ongoing sequel, though I do agree with you, because Amnesia is a great game and deserves more attention than it is given. To be honest, I am surprised that you're still active. I've seen you around, and you seem to be more experienced than I am. Most people here have left for the new Five Nights at Freddy's game which I do not understand, since it makes no sense to me.
You seem fairly active on this wiki, which is a relief. Before you arrived, I was beginning to think that the wiki was dying, for most activity was small edits to articles, or occasional comment. I started to believe that I was alone in watching over the wiki. Most largely-active users have long faded away, and there was never really much talk from the Admins. Maybe it is possible that the wiki has always been like this, and I am just late to the party so to speak. Still, hopefully something good will happen to Amnesia which will breathe new life into the game. Maybe once SOMA is released, attention will be averted to Frictional Games for a bit, which might be what Amnesia needs. Still, the decline in activity has created a chance for true fans to appreciate the game. I may only play Amnesia once in a while, usually to play new custom stories, I do enjoy reading about it's story and gameplay, and thinking of ideas for my own possible custom stories. (I already have several decent ideas, and have even made some rough level design.) I can't wait intil SOMA is released, as it will almost be a chance to re-experience Amnesia, as the two games look similar in gameplay.
Yes, I cannot get enough of Amnesia, however I have discovered Five Nights at Freddie's, and it is a good game, but I've been playing it a lot more than Amnesia, not because I like it any better, but because I've never played it before. Rest assured, after I finish all my school work and Five Nights at Freddie's, I will return to Amnesia. A problem with me is that I treat Amnesia as if it were a god, to where if I don't play it for a while, I feel like I'm abandoning a pet or a child, or leaving it in the dust. I've recently completed my 24th game of Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, 19th time without a death. I can honestly say the reason why I've only played 175 hours of A Machine for Pigs, but over 1000 of The Dark Descent is because of custom stories, since they are fun to play!
I clearly cannot be the only American Amnesia player, since Markiplier is American.
God I'm typing that word too much now. I accidentally typed "Amnesiacan". Whenever a word begins with "A", I automatically type Amnesia since it's become my favorite game at heart.
This Wiki being inactive is a real tear jerker, since Amnesia does not recieve the proper attention it deserves. Amnesia is in my opinion, the best horror experience ever.
I'm playing Overture right now. I can say I got really scared on the first level :D they already have an enemy attacking you.
Though I'm on the 2nd level and I can't figure out what to do :/ I promised myself I wouldn't watch any walkthroughs or spoil it like I spoiled both Amnesia games (especially A Machine for Pigs, the puzzles were so confusing :/)
So I'm going to try to get as far as I can once I finish all my school work :)
Haha, that's cool. :o) I like the names you've given them. Do you have a name for the giant worm, then? ;o)
Giant Worm: "Hey... I want a name too! What's my name, CantAffordName? Perhaps something cute, for cute, little... uhm, I mean BIG me?"
This is what I call the monsters: The Grunt (Mr. Face), the Brute (Mr. Tall), the Kaernk (Waterlurker), the Suitors I just call with their real names, the Wretch (Mr. Piggy), the Engineer (Mr. Ugly), the Failed experiment (Electric Dude) the Tesla (Lightning Bolt). :oD
What do you think? It wasn't me who came up with the names for the Grunt, the Brute and the Kaernk, though. I claim no credit for that. I don't know what other people call the other monsters, though. ;o)
Instead, it makes you repeat the entire chase over. Even Thomas Grip admitted it was a bit irritating, and he said that those who played Penumbra chase scenes and succeeded on the first time liked them, and those who died a lot, disliked them. It's a developer commentary in the cells.
Did you buy Amnesia with Steam? If they hosted Amnesia on whatever platform you're buying it with, then they should also be selling Penumbra there too (Except for my friend, who pirated Amnesia :/)
Also, I did survive, since the worm is a bit slow, and it's not all that smart, but after I survived the chase, I quit the game and went back to see what I could do. It's a lot smarter than I expected. The first sighting is when it breaks through a door, and I figured if I wait next to the door, the worm will just go forward and ignore me, but I was wrong! That thing turned around and ate me alive xD!
I hope if you get Penumbra, you'll have a good graphics card though. I've seen youtubers play it, and they have no problem, but for some reason with my Penumbra, lighting is really bad. Everything turns pure white with the lights on. But I've never seen anyone else encounter this, all youtubers have good lighting effects so I hope you don't have the same thing I did. It's easier to see in darkness :/
I've been playing Overture for 4 days now and I have to keep lying down in the light, especially after I get attacked by those giant worms!
I've heard Overture was no where near as scary as Black Plague, so I'm trying to hurry up and finish Overture so I can get into the real scary stuff.
I've checked Frictional Games's forum, and one of their Super Moderators helped me with the graphics. It turns out Penumbra doesn't support my Intel HD Graphics card, so I had to adjust some settings, but it turned out okay. No more pure white walls!
Well I really don't think this Wiki needs admins anymore. There's nothing to really be edited, just citing some things and organizing pages. There are no trolls or griefers on this Wiki that vandalize pages, so there's no need to be an admin. Plus GabZonY pretty much has all the admin duties filled.
Lol thanks. I just fixed my PC lag so there will be a lot more videos coming soon. Also, I don't want to exactly copy CrazyShootin, but I do admire him, he's able to make me laugh, unlike PewDiePie who in fact rips my ears out ._.
CrazyShootin was actually the one who turned me on to Amnesia, and I'll never forget that day, March 22, 2014 when I bought The Dark Descent :)
PewDiePie might be the current star on youtube but it doesn't mean, he is better than the rest. I agree with your assessment about Crazy. I must say this, I realized that many youtubers changed a lot, after they reached more than 1 million subscribers. Before, I pretty liked Felix's gameplays, but now with 30 million subs, he seems to be more and more spoiled by his fans. It might be like that forever, whether you like it or not. However this isn't a satisfying discovery, and my current opinions about his videos are truly awful.
I also idolize Marcus. He's the master of Amnesia. It's nice to meet another CrazyShootin fan :) What do you think about his music episodes?
I don't really watch them lol. I just watch his Amnesia trolling the monsters series. I liked Episode 20 and 30 the most, since they were in fact long and funny. I just liked Ep.30 because he plays all the maps I have, and episode 20 because he spends all the time in the video on the Madness Ch03 Demo, which basically has a hardwired hater (Hating monster) in the rooms.
There's a location in Germany called Brandenburg, but it appears to be in the south of the country and not near the Baltic Sea. Maybe they just changed the name Branden into Brennen, so it can be assumed that the castle's name comes from this place. If I would arrive at Brennenburg I would re-build it and make a large army of Steves and constructing a portal, leading to Alexander's world and force them to consume the world, as an punishment for the things he did. I might be risking my life, but Daniel's revenge will be big. After that, I would go back to 2006 and give Frictional Games all the ideas for Amnesia. It always feels good to help someone.
You call him steve? I do too lol. I actually call him two things: Steve when he's normal, and Hater when he's yelling at me (The mods you saw on my video).
Also, if I could meet Frictional Games in real life or at least one of their members I would be sooo pleased. I was already so shocked when I got to talk to Luis Rodero (I commented on one of his videos and he replied to me. He's also the Wikia contributor who last edited the Developer Commentary page).
I just call him Steve, because of Marcus. I feel the same if I would meet workers from Frictional Games, like Mikko Tarmina or Thomas Grip. I have so many questions for them to answer, but chances like those are very small. I've always wanted to know, how they came to all the stories for Penumbra, Amnesia and the upcoming game SOMA. I mean, one or a few of them must contain a lot of creativity.
That sounds alright. So what about other games? Is horror your only thing, or do you also enjoy other games? I generally like playing horror games, but also some shooter-games were pretty nice like Bioshock Infinite or Far Cry 4. They had a great story, but they were quite short on my opinion :/. Actually, less games came out in 2014, which were well-made. I have to say, Watch Dogs was truly awful, especially Aiden Pearce. I did not like anything in this game and now I would like to have my 60 $ back.
I actually tried to make a custom story, and I did make one, but it was junk after I found out all the possibilities, and I decided not to. I'm thinking of making a custom story that flat out introductes a new game, called "Amnesia: The Virus"
The Virus? Like Tuurngait from Penumbra :) ? I hope not, because that would be copying. But the name is pretty interesting. I was about to create an custom story, however after several failures I was done with the work. Now, I only play custom stories like Penumbra: Necrologue which was excellent. Good luck with your game. I would immediately try it :)
Amnesia: The Virus will take place in 1942, turning the Pearl Harbor bombing. Your character is a war veteran who is caught in the bombing and is severely injured. He is sent to a massive underground medical facility where strange things happen, and machinery begin to malfunction and take on human qualities.
Of course, your character will suffer Amnesia from the concussion.
I'm about to make a mod as well. I haven't thought about a title yet, but a good story is already made. It's a prequel to Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs, where you take the role of Garett Mandus, Oswald's younger brother, who woke up deep below the factory and suffers Amnesia as well. While then he gets to explore different areas and the story will be available during the gameplay. I began with the work, but I have to wait because my current computer is not the right tool.
Good thinking, still I am not about to actually copy their ways of programming. Though I won't really change anything in my CS, except the levels, notes etc, I'm trying to make it like my very one game. Graphics and soundtracks will be the same, if I don't add anything new. It's like good practice in that location. However like I said before, I need right tools to begin.
I am surprised that Amnesia has died. Even PewDiePie stopped playing it. I just watched his entire series of Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs yesterday, and in the beginning he was talking about how much he loved Amnesia, that it brought him up to where he is now, yet a year later, he doesn't play any Amnesia at all, unlike CrazyShootin who still plays Amnesia and actually makes us laugh.
The thing is that most people are done with Amnesia since they finished all three games. Now there's no real reason to talk about it anymore, because no sequels or DLC's are in development. So we are not about to experience the horror again. Still there are people like us, who enjoy playing Custom Stories and eventually keep loving its horror. Back in 2012, when Mark Hadley published Slender: The Eight Pages, it became so popular that several games were made. However the myth has been forgotten as well. The same could happen with Scott Cawthon's Five Nights at Freddy's. It was such a horrific game last year, can't tell how many fan-made games were created. Still, it doesn't automatically mean it will never leave our minds. That's the sad thing about. One day, it looses all of his prominence.
I don't get why people don't like Amnesia anymore. I know it's an opinion, but I find Amnesia rather addicting, especially when you're a modder and you turn the game's engine to make it a different way. For me, my goal is to turn Amnesia from scary into funny.
Another thing I don't get is why everyone likes Five Nights at Freddy's. It's no where near as good as Amnesia, since you cannot move, all you can do is watch security cameras, the graphics suck, and the monsters aren't even scary. In Amnesia, the graphics look real, you can actually move and you have freedom. The monsters (except the servant grunt, he's cute :3) are creepy. The servant brute is the scariest in my opinion.
I'll explain it. Five Nights at Freddy's doesn't allow you to move at any moment and that's not even a bad idea. Why? Because it gives you a feeling of claustrophobia and it can become very stressful while trying to save power as much as possible. Stress is that what is meant to be in a horror game. In Amnesia you have the ability to run, hide and sometimes to defend yourself, however it makes you feel more safe than panicked. And that wouldn't really be a psychological horror experience. So FNaF is an good example for this.
I don't understand why Five Nights at Freddy's is so popular. It doesn't make any sense. You're a security guard, to defend against what? No you're risking your own life. And you don't stop to think "I quit". This game really makes no sense as there are ghosts. I don't think there are any ghosts in Amnesia.
There are no ghosts in the game. As far as I know, the living animatronics are souls of children, who were murdered by Jeremy Fitzgerald, an employee of the restaurant back in 1987. 1987 is the year where a terrible incident happened, known as "The Bite of '87". It can be assumed that Foxy or another animatronic is responsible for a child without the frontal lobe of his or her brain. Now this is already a scary story in my and other people's opinion. Now a man named Mike Schmidt goes to the pizzeria and gets a call by a guy who tells him that the animatronics must be sure that an endoskeleton is stuffed in his suit. This would mean that the children want to kill the guard, so that they can avoid him killing more innocent kids. I am not sure if this is correct but most of it might be true. That game is more like a fantasy game and it's not even a bad idea. The monsters in Amnesia don't appear to be ghosts, but no one can know exactly.
No one can know exactly until we play the game. For example I thought that The Evil Within would be a great game with an excellent setting, but I was wrong. Also the results of the game are truly awful.
Hey, I have a joke for you. "What do you call a group of homosexuals in a gay strip bar?" A bundle of sticks. I don't know why, but a friend recently told me that and the others seemed to love this one.
Aha, well I don't get it as well. I just got bored.
What do you think about that big thing that can be seen in A Machine For Pigs, when Oswald was going through the streets of London? It actually looks like the Pont du Gard, that brigde in France. Do you maybe know what it is supposed to be?
Oh. I won't force you to play Amnesia because it's meant to be played whenever you want. Just thought that you would continue since you told me, you fixed your computer. I actually disagree with your opinion about Amnesia. Don't you see how many people watch Crazy and create own custom stories? This is a good evidence that Amnesia has not died. I know, it's no longer a big topic in the world of gaming, still it doesn't mean people forgot it. It's great that I get to talk with users like you who adore Amnesia and keep playing it. I don't know about you, but feel free to play other games. I know it's a sad thing but hey SOMA is about to come out this year and I'm really excited, because it's surely going to be very similar to Amnesia, including better graphics and possibly having more items :)
Yes, I can see that, but hopefully CrazyShootin will continue trolling Amnesia monsters. Old PewDiePie abandoned it. Crazy at least plays what we want him to play. PewDiePie has a lot of people wanting him to play Amnesia again and he won't.
ModDB is a website where you can publish your mods for Amnesia: The Dark Descent and give people permission to play them. Everyone can create a page for his very own CS and I must say, most of them are very well-made. You can simply make a page for your mod, as an example Amnesia: The Virus and people will be curious about your upcoming mod. Feel free to add images, descriptions and trailers as well. I don't have much experience with MODBB yet, still I'll make a mod too, in hope it'll be a big success. If you don't know, Penumbra: Necrologue became the mod of 2014, because of its great story, well-made levels and interesting characters. Necrologue is actually the reason, why I decided to make an add-on to Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs.
Here's the link to the page, but you can also just type "Amnesia Mods" and the first result will lead you here: []
I'm about to get a new PC soon, so I can eventually begin, making my mod. BTW, I'm very busy right now and I won't have much time like I had before, what means I'm not going to be on this site so often. Still I'll write replies as soon as possible.
