Legionnaire Lauritz was a member of the French Foreign Legion, stationed with the garrison at Al-Mamaru Fort in the Algerian desert. He is a mentioned character in Amnesia: Rebirth.

Summary[]

Legionnaire Lauritz was a member of the French garrison at Al-Mamaru Fort.[4]

History[]

Early life[]

Almost nothing is known about Legionnaire Lauritz’s early life. But it can be presumed that he was of a non-French nationality, due to his service in the French Foreign Legion, and due to the legion’s traditional requirement of taking pseudonyms, it is very possible that “Lauritz” is not his real surname.[3]

Algerian posting[]

At some point, Legionnaire Lauritz joined the French garrison at Al-Mamaru Fort. Lauritz, along with Legionnaire Desrosiers, repeatedly harassed women from the local Kel Hanan tribe, who then appealed to the garrison commander, Captain Lefevre.[4] The captain punished both Lauritz and Desrosiers for this harassment.[4] Their actions were part of what led the captain to order the excavation of the cistern in order to keep the men occupied.[4]

Fall of Al-Mamaru Fort[]

It is unknown what exactly Legionnaire Lauritz’s fate was, but it can be presumed either that he was tortured to death by Ghouls or that he committed suicide to escape that fate.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Lauritz is a Scandinavian form of the name Lawerence, which would suggest that he was of Scandinavian origin if he was using his real name at the time.[5]
