

Jens Nilsson is a developer at, and co-founder of, Frictional Games alongside Thomas Grip, who works as a designer, a sound engineer, a level developer, and ultimately as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Frictional. He has worked on both the Amnesia and Penumbra game series, as well as on the game SOMA.[1]

Jens Nilsson is a cofounding member of the Swedish-based independent games studio, Frictional Games, along with Thomas Grip. They met in 2002, attending the same university, and officially founded the company in 2007 on the first of January.[3]
Jens Nilsson has worked on basically all games made by Frictional Games in one way or another thus far. This includes on Penumbra franchise (a similarly Lovecraftian-inspired horror adventure series) and the stand-alone SOMA (a science-fiction existential horror adventure game). This also includes work on the Amnesia games.
Work on Amnesia[]
On Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Jens Nilsson is credited as having worked on the game's "Design," "Sound Engineering," "Level Scripting," and "Level Editing."[1] Several developer commentaries from the game give his insight onto aspects of its development as he saw it, mainly on the subjects of sound, gameplay, and scripting. On Amnesia: Justine, the expansion/DLC for The Dark Descent, Nilsson is similarly credited for work in the areas of "Sound," "Level Scripting," and "Design."[2]
On Amnesia: Rebirth, Nilsson is again credited for the game's "Design," "Sound," "Level Scripting," and "Level Editing," as in The Dark Descent.[4]
Cooperation with The Chinese Room[]
Members of Frictional Games assisted The Chinese Room with their development of the sequel to The Dark Descent, called Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. On A Machine for Pigs, Jens Nilsson is credited as having helped on story (given as "Drama").[5] Both he and Thomas Grip also served as executive producers of A Machine for Pigs.[5]
