- This article is about the items from Amnesia: The Bunker. For the items from Amnesia: The Dark Descent and its expansion Justine, see Inventory items (The Dark Descent). For the items from Amnesia: Rebirth, see Inventory items (Rebirth).
There are various items that Henri Clement can find during his exploration of the titular bunker over the course of Amnesia: The Bunker. They can be picked up and stored in the inventory menu.
Overview[]
In the game Amnesia: The Bunker, there is a variety of inventory item types and usages which is, in its breadth and interconnection, unusual for the series. While there are broadly three categories of item in the game, some items have functions that naturally classify them in other categories.
In the first category, there are tool items, which are distinguished from other kinds of items by their ability to be reused (more than once). In previous games, this may have encompassed only a select few items (such as Daniel's Lantern or Tasi's Radio). In The Bunker, this category encompasses several. Some act as light sources; some act as reusable puzzle items, opening multiple areas; and some act as weapons, killing or hurting enemies. Weapons are another departure from previous Amnesia titles.
Lighting dark areas, too, is deëmphasized compared to previous games, as Henri does not suffer from any kind of affliction which requires him to stay in well-lit areas (as would the Sanity system from Amnesia: The Dark Descent or the Fear system from Amnesia: Rebirth). In the bunker, environmental lighting is a resource to be managed, as it both suppresses the activity of the Beast and greatly improves navigation. However, personal lighting is, ultimately, a matter of how willing the player is to navigate the dark spaces of the bunker without it.
Next, items can fall into the second category of resource items, which are used to access new areas and containers, to ward off enemies, to manage Henri's health, to keep the bunker lights on, and—novel for Amnesia games—crafting other items. The latter is a subcategory into which some resource items fall, and some exclusively don't, and some still both do and don't.
An example of a resource item that is craftable, but not useful is the Stick; it has no known use in-game besides being an element for crafting the Torch. On the other hand, example of a resource item that is useful on its own terms, but not craftable, are the fragmentation grenades and the gas grenades. Grenades are expendable, throwable weapon items, but they are not used in any crafting recipes. Finally, there are resource items that are useful AND craftable, such as the Fuel, which can be used to power the generator and keep the lights on, but also can be used in crafting a Petrol Bomb instead.
The third category of items are puzzle items, which are used to aid in progress. These might include keys, machine parts, or tools. In Amnesia: The Bunker, this category has the fewest members, and in many cases, both tool and resource items can similarly enable progress through the game's levels. This is due to The Bunker's open-ended design, where many of the obstacles are not so much puzzles meant to solved in one particular way, but problems that can be overcome in several different ways. A handful of traditional puzzle items still exist in the game, though, and at least three of them are necessary to complete the game.
Tool items[]
Lighting tools[]
These are all tool items which can act as a light source for the player, enabling easier navigation of the bunker, especially when the generator is powered off.
Flashlight[]

Torch[]
- Main article: Torch (The Bunker)
The Torch is a craftable light source item. It requires the Lighter to use, and it has a durability, meaning it stops working after a certain time of use. When the Torch is put away in the inventory, it maintains its durability, but loses durability while the player holds it out. The Torch produces much more light than the Lighter, however, and unlike the Flashlight, the Torch makes no noise and so does not attract the Beast from the walls when used.
Access tools[]
These are all items which can enable access for the player, i.e. allowing entry into otherwise-impassable areas or allowing plunder of otherwise-unopenable containers.
Cutters[]

Weapon tools[]
Weapons are all items which can allow the player to either fend off enemies or eliminate them entirely, and these specifically are weapon tools, which can be used more than once.

Resource items[]
The Bunker has a plethora of resource items for the player to acquire and use in managing various systems. They can be broadly, though not perfectly, divided according to function: firstly, to manage health; secondly, to manage exposure to enemies; and thirdly as ingredients for crafting other kinds of items.
Health resources[]
Health resource items are used, simply, to manage Henri's health status, as indicated in the inventory screen by the amount of blood covering Henri's hand.

Anti-enemy resources[]
Anti-enemy resource items are used to either repel, attract, or kill enemies—either way, their usage is to keep creatures who can do Henri harm, from doing that harm. The weapon items described above use ammunition, which is one kind of anti-enemy resource, and the rest are predominately throwables.
Resources which directly affect enemies are as follows:
- Revolver Bullets, ammunition for the Revolver.
- Shotgun Shells, ammunition for the Shotgun.
- Grenade (throwable) — a fragmentation device that can kill Rats and repel the Beast.
- Gas Grenade (throwable) — a chemical device that can repel both Rats and the Beast.
- Empty Bottle (throwable) — a loud breakable object that can distract and lure the Beast.
- Flare (throwable) — an inciendiary device that can repel Rats and attract the Beast.
- Meat (throwable — a slab of spoiled meat that can attract Rats.
- Petrol Bomb (throwable) — an inciendiary device that can kill Rats and repel the Beast.
Resource items that function as the necessary supply for light sources are as follows:
- Fuel, the main resource for powering the generator that keeps the bunker lights on.
- Fuel Bottle (throwable) — an inciendiary device that can repel Rats and attract the Beast.
Crafting items[]
These items have no or few primary uses in and of themselves, as they are meant to be elements in crafting other items:
- Cloth
- Empty Bottle
- Empty Bottle with Cloth
- Fuel Bottle
- Fuel
- Stick
Puzzle items[]
- Main article: Puzzle items (The Bunker)
A select few items in The Bunker are used only for one specific puzzle, not used throughout the whole game. Once these items are used to solve the puzzle, they are not retained, and whatever inventory space they originally occupied is freed up.
These include:
- The Lockdown wheel, found in the Mission Storage room of the Central Bunker area.
- The Communications key, a key found in the bunkrooms of the Soldier Quarters area.
- The Pillbox key, a key found in the Chapel room of the Maintenance area.
- The Dynamite bundle, found in the Arsenal area.
- The Detonator handle, found in the Roman Tunnels area.
